Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital has launced a new Safe Baby campaign in conjunction with Baby Safety Month in September. The educational campaign encourages the prevention of shaken baby sundrome, suddent infant death syndrome, co-sleeping and exposure of infants to second- and third-hand smoke.
(COUNCIL BLUFFS, IOWA) – Southwest Iowa’s only nationally accredited cancer center received a $1 million grant from The Leona M. & Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust. The $1 million contribution, announced earlier today at a press conference, matches a separate $1 million challenge grant offered by an anonymous donor and will assist in purchasing a state-of-the-art Linear Accelerator for Methodist Jennie Edmundson’s Cancer Center.
If nurses at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital hadn't offered her assistance from the Spirit of Courage Cancer Patient Care Fund, Patricia Kurtz of Harlan would have cut her cancer treatment short. "If they wouldn't have told me that, I wouldn't have continued the treatments," Kurtz said.
The Iowa Healthcare Collaborative and Partnership for Patients have recognized Methodist Jennie Edmundson's Birth Services as a leading hospital in assuring safe care for mothers and babies.
